Jean Pascaud (1903-1996) Black Lacquer Sideboard circa 1940

US$0.00

A remarkable black and cream lacquered Jean Pascaud sideboard, circa 1940.

The body, finished in the deepest of black lacquers contrasts beautifully with the cream lacquered doors, indented with a diamond and dot pattern.
Simple gold bands of gilding frame the front and side: further used on the stunning conical leg that support the cabinet. Large doors open to reveal a sycamore interior with three centrally positioned drawers and shelves to either side.
The key is a sculpted brass cockerel and Pascaud with a sense of humour elevates this domestic bird to the pinnacle of design luxury.
His work is simple, yet technically ambitious and brilliant; his pieces are impressively large, but aesthetically balanced.

Dimensions:
Width: 84.2 in (214 cm)
Height: 36.2 in (92 cm)
Depth: 22 in (56 cm)

Location: London
