First edition, published by Institute of Contemporary Arts, 1983

This publication accompanies the first major exhibition of American conceptual artist Barbara Kruger’s work in Europe, and features works she has made since 1981. Kruger examines the images, the language and ultimately the stereotypes that represent power and gender roles, often through appropriation of found images taken from the media to which she adds her own text. The series of black and white reproductions of her works are accompanied by several essays that examine her arresting body of work.
