An important photography book capturing New York in the 1970s and early 80s. Self taught photographer George Forss had a tough New York upbringing and made his living selling shots of NYC. He was discovered in 1980 by David Douglas Duncan who was so impressed preceded to show it to editors and artists and helped in orchestrating the publishing of this great New York book. Forss's dreamlike black and white images capture the streets of New York and drew praise at the time from artists such as Norman Mailer, Henri Cartier-Bresson as well as Ansel Adams.
