Mnemosyne - Bill Henson - 1st Edition, Scalo, 2005

£340.00

First edition, published by Scalo Verlag & Art Gallery of New South Wales, 2005.

A scarce retrospective monograph showing 30 years of Bill Henson’s photographic works. One of the great figures of late 20th century contemporary photography, Henson has continued to push the boundaries of aesthetics and subject matter with his numerous moving photo series, from the eerie nightscapes of LA and New York, to the dark nude portraits of his early career and the more recent haunting images of ‘children adrift in the wilderness of night’. Controversial and aesthetically brilliant, he draws from as diverse sources as film noir and the austere modernism of W.G. Sebald and Thomas Bernhard. Interspersed throughout with short essays by a wide array of art writers on Henson's work, this is a huge volume of exceptionally printed, beautiful and atmospheric photographs.

Hardback in publisher's original dust jacket, around 500 pages, text in English, richly and heavily illustrated with black and white and colour photographic plates throughout.

Dimensions: 31cm x 26cm x 5.5cm

Condition: Near Fine in Near Fine dust jacket.
