COLOUR IN EVERYDAY ROOMS – BASIL IONIDES, 1934

First edition, published by Country Life Ltd, 1934

Vwery scarce this book may be similar in title to Basil Ionides’ earlier book, ‘Color and Interior Decoration’, but the content is certainly very different. At the time of publication Art Deco is in full swing and Basil Ionides has designed interiors for the Savoy and Claridge’s, and the influence of the changes in architecture and design on the interiors of this book is striking. However, his attentive eye for the more traditional interior isn’t abandoned in this book, there remains a broad variety of styles for varying tastes. The chapters of the book cover everything from the colour of the outside of the house, lighting effects, style revivals and commercial decoration.

Generously illustrated with colour reproductions of watercolours and black and white photographic prints.
