First edition, hardback, published by Ernst & Sohn, Berlin, 1995

By Frans Postma & Cees Boekraad.

A brilliant book about the studio Piet Mondrian used between 1921 and 1936. Through a series of chapters the book builds a rounded image of the area, the artist, and the studio itself. With background history on the rise and fall of Montparnasse as an ‘artists’ quarter’, to the full scale reproductions of the studio for the exhibition ‘Earthly Paradise’ in 1994-95 and a chapter with the letters from Mondrian to the de Stijl architect J.J.P. Oud.
